Health care advocacy association created

In response to the emergence of health care advocacy as a distinct profession, one consultant has founded the National Association of Healthcare Advocacy Consultants, which claims to be the first professional association for those working as patient advocates. The association’s first national conference is scheduled for Berkeley, Calif., where the group is based, Nov. 14-15. Workshops are scheduled on subjects ranging from insurance to technology and members of the fledgling group will elect an executive committee, as well as decide whether the for-profit group should pursue nonprofit status.
